Kazakh National Medical University
Kazakh National Medical University, Almaty
Why Kazakh National?
Kazakh National Medical University is located in Almaty, Kazakhstan's largest city and its commercial centre. It delivers medical education to international students in English and heads our Priority 3 band — the destinations selected as affordable and emerging choices.
Almaty sits against the Tian Shan mountains and has a continental climate that is comfortable through much of the year. Kazakhstan's proximity to India means a notably shorter flight than the Russian or Chinese options, which matters for both arrival and family visits.
Established in 1930 and granted national university status in 2001, KazNMU is the largest medical campus in Kazakhstan and is recognised by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan alongside the WHO and WFME. It is taught by a very large faculty of clinicians, scientists and award-winning academics, and it supplements them with a visiting guest-faculty programme. Semesters run to five months, and English is the medium of instruction throughout the international programme.
Tuition, hostel and living costs for Kazakh National Medical University are confirmed directly with the university for each intake, and are not published in our current brochure. A counsellor will give you the complete written cost breakdown — including everything payable beyond tuition — before you commit to anything.

Living in Almaty
Campus is where you study. Almaty is where you spend the rest of it.
Kazakhstan's largest city and its commercial capital, set directly against the Tian Shan range — the mountains are visible from most of the city and they shape both the weather and the weekends. The name comes from the apple trees the region is known for. Almaty holds most of the country's financial sector and is the centre of Kazakh higher education, and its climate is genuinely extreme in both directions: hot summers, cold winters, sharpened by the mountainous terrain. For students it means a real city with a metro, a short direct flight home, and established Indian food supply.
