Why East-West?
East-West University is a private institution in Tbilisi delivering an English-medium medical programme. Its intake is oriented towards international students, which shapes how the teaching is organised — teaching and student support are designed for cohorts arriving from outside Georgia rather than adapted for them.
It appears in our Priority 1 band: the Georgian group chosen for ease of adaptation. In practice that means a short flight from India, a familiar food supply in the city, low living costs and a straightforward visa process.
What distinguishes East-West within the Tbilisi group is scale rather than location. It is a smaller institution than SEU or GAU, and students who want a capital-city posting — with the Indian community, the food supply and the direct connectivity that Tbilisi provides — but would rather not be one of a very large cohort tend to shortlist it against the bigger Tbilisi options.

Georgia's capital sits on the banks of the Kura, and it is where almost all of Georgian medical education happens. It is a genuinely old city — Persian and Russian layers, Eastern Orthodox churches, art nouveau facades and Soviet modernist blocks, with the reconstructed Narikala fortress and the Kartlis Deda statue above it all. The climate is humid subtropical shading into continental: moderately cold winters, warm summers, rain spread across the year and an annual average around 13°C, which is a mild adjustment rather than a shock. For a student it means the largest Indian community in the country, a metro and cheap ride-hailing, Indian restaurants and messes, and a safe, walkable centre.
